- Rain gear Absolutely a necessity.
- Heavy packs – Revised equipment list when staying in huts, lighten up!!, Heavier packs cause fatigue which can leads to injury. 20-30 lb packs are more than enough.
- Hiking poles – ask someone who has hiked.
- Jumping is dangerous. Jumping causes knee cap compression and dramatic increase in possibility of a falling accident.
- Individual spacing – There should be a minimum of 5 ft. in between you and the person in front of you.
6. Pay attention to map and compass readings, especially on directions changes.
- Accountability – groups MUST stay together – especially on upcoming 2008
trip due to possibility of quick weather changes.
