BSANORTH SCITUATE TROOP 2
Trail Description - Buttress Trail
The Buttress Trail leads from the Six Husbands Trail about .5 miles from the Great Gulf Trail to the Star Lake Trail about .3 miles from the AMC Madison Hut, providing a route from the middle of the Great Gulf to the Northern Peaks. The trail climbs on sidehill around several ridges of Mount Adams, with plenty of boulder hopping, a few scrambles, and one rock the trail passes under. The upper part of the trail is in low scrub although sheltered in part from NW winds. This is not a good route in wet or windy weather.
Almost the entire trail lies within the Great Gulf Wilderness, and after the first .1 miles the legal camping opportunities are very limited due to steep slopes and thick vegetation.
Distance: From Six Husbands Trail to Star Lake Trail, about 1.9 miles one-way
Elevation gain: About 1600 feet
